Built in 1902 in the historic district of Waitsburg, the Fender building originally consisted of serveral businesses on the ground floor. The second story was completed in 1903 as a hotel. Later the building was divided. the lower floor continued as businesses and the second story became apartments and professional offices.
Records show that in 1915 the portion which is now Nothing New Lodging was occupied by Dr. Steele and a lawyer named Ormsby and the portion which is now Nothing New Antiques was a dry goods store featuring Hart, Shaffner & Marx clothing and Buster Brown Shoes.
Years of neglect followed. In 2005 renovation began on the upper floor. The original wood floors were restored. The high ceilings, woodwork, transoms and skylights of 100 years ago were retained.
